Over the last few weeks I've been interviewing each author (besides myself) here on the blog. Lets' get to know Mel...

Tell us about yourself:

I am a36-year-old stay home Aussie mum. I have one son who is 3. When I’m not writingI work part-time as a Software Support Consultant and I also do some book coverdesign work.

How did you select your pen-name?

MyPenname is my actual name I don’t write under a pseudonym.

Do you prefer?

Milk Chocolate or Dark? Oh that is a hard decision can I chooseboth.

Coffee or Tea? Neither but Tea in a pinch

Romance or a Thriller? Most definitely Romance

Mystery or Horror? Mysteryall the way. Horror is just not my thing at all.

Did you always want to be an author?

Noactually, when I was in my teens I wrote a lot of lyrics and wanted desperatelyto be a song writer. Over the years writing has mainly been a hobby but since Ihad my son I have found a passion for it.

What authors hadan impact on you growing up and as an adult?

Theonly author I remember being really addicted to when I was a child was J.R.R.Tolkien. As an adult there are just too many books to think about but I thinkthose that had the most impact are Stephanie Meyer, Christopher Paolini and JKRowling.

Did anyone in your lifeinfluence you or encouraged you to be a writer? (teacher,family member, friend) Not really ithas always been a part of me I kept hidden, until now of course.

What is yourwriting atmosphere like?

Ilike peace and quiet. The best times to write for me are after midnight.

What is your favorite aspect orwriting? Your least favorite?

Myfavourite thing about writing is when it all comes together. My least favouritething is writers block.

What drew to the Love, AgainAnthology?

Ihad a piece that had come to me a while ago, that I just knew would fit thetheme so I sent it in and then hoped.

How did you decide on your storyplot?

Idon’t tend to decide on a story plot they just come to me at the most randominopportune times and then they don’t leave me alone until I write them down.

How did you chooseyour characters names and location for your story?

Ihave two ways that I choose names. Sometimes I will pick a personality traitthen Google names that mean that. Or I will just Google the top baby names fora certain year and then pick one I like. As for location, I usually pick USlocations because people relate to them better and I am lucky that I havetravelled a lot and seen a lot of the US so I am familiar with a lot of thecities.

I'm happy to have on my blog today fellow Beachwalk Press author Kaylie Newell.She is talking about her new release Falling Into Danger.

When people askwhat Falling In Danger is about, and I tell them it’s a suspense centered onillegal dog fighting and its emotional aftermath, inevitably the next questionwill be what gave me the idea for the book. For me, it’s an interesting point to ponder. After all, I was one of those people who wasalways deathly afraid of Pit Bulls. Those big, muscular dogs with the blocky heads, huge jaws, andquestionable reputation. If I saw onebeing walked down the sidewalk, I’d grab my kids and cross the street. I’ll admit, I was guilty of generalizationand judgment. Big time.

But in the lastcouple of years, a few things have since turned my head. Made me take notice and pay attention toindividual stories. And opened my heartin the process.

I, along with mostof the country, was absolutely sickened when the Michael Vick story broke a fewyears ago. I kept asking myself howsomeone could do something like that to an animal? Why did he do it? The more I asked myself those questions, themore upset I got. Because there justisn’t a logical answer.

I began to payattention to the stories about the dogs that were left behind. When their pictures were on TV, I’d make it apoint to put whatever I was doing aside, and watch. If there was an article in the paper, I’d readit voraciously, only to finish, wishing there were more. Slowly, I realized that what I was cravingwas a happy ending. I wanted these poor,beaten down dogs to find homes. To findfamilies to love them. To give themlives deserving of man kind’s most faithful friend.

As some of thosehappy endings I was looking for began to unfold, an idea began to takeshape. What would it be like to coverthose incredible stories as a journalist? How emotionally involved would you become? And what if you had always been terrified ofdogs, but were driven to do the story anyway? How would this change a person? Would you learn to question convention? Would you uncover layers of yourself you never knew existed?

Gradually, thesequestions, as well as the answers I hoped would follow, became Falling InDanger. My heroine, Jessica Brady is ayoung, naive reporter who learns that to become the woman she’s always wantedto be, she has to look deep within herself to find the courage and compassion whichwill change her forever. While doing astory about an illegal dog fighting operation in LA, she will fall in love, notonly with the dogs that were left behind, but also with the sexy detective whoended up saving them.

It’s a storythat’s very close to my heart. Whilewriting this book I had to question a lot of preconceived notions I’ve alwayshad about dogs and Pit Bulls in particular. I had to look beyond what I thought I knew, to what is actually thetruth. That these dogs can be amazingpets, friends, and family members, if given the chance. That we, as their people, have to beresponsible and educated in order to give them the best shot at a future filledwith love, understanding and acceptance.

FALLING IN DANGER EXCERPT

“This way.” Fitzpulled her down another hallway until they reached a door at the end. Shelimped along, her arm rigid in his hand.

“What are you planning on doing to me?”

Fitz eyed her as he opened the door. “Come on.”

Jessica leaned to the side, looking directly down an obscureflight of stairs which led God knew where. “Down there?”

He didn’t answer, but tugged on her arm, taking the firststep down.

She locked her knees in place, her one useless Jimmy Choosliding maddeningly on the tile. “I’m not going down there.”

“Yes, you are.”

“No, I’m not.” Her voice cracked.

“Yes. You are.”

She yanked, but it was no use. He held tight.

Full-fledged alarm finally lit her up like a firecracker.She kicked and clawed, while strange noises escaped her throat. She was vaguelyaware of an arm wrapping around her waist, even as she arched away, buckinglike something wild.

“Stop it,” he hissed. “You’re only going to make it worse,do you understand me?”

In reply, she turned and sunk her teeth into his shoulder.

“Shiiiit!”

He snatched her up, this time not seeming to care if he hurther in the process. Again, she was slung over his shoulder as he made his waydown the staircase. She twisted around, desperately trying to get a look atwhat was waiting at the bottom. Her heart slammed in her chest, and shecouldn’t catch her breath. Being upside down wasn’t helping. Where was a paperbag when you needed one?

Fitz slowed and reached over to switch on a light at thebase of the staircase, never easing his grip off the back of her legs. A weak,yellow glow overtook the room, and she looked up, shoving her hair out of hereyes.

It was sparsely furnished, and dim. She peered into everycorner, trying to make out the details. The tangy, sweet smell of marijuanamade her nose wrinkle, as well as something else she couldn’t quite put herfinger on. Something vaguely familiar…and unsettling.

“If I put you down, are you going to be a good girl?”

She gritted her teeth, and mumbled.

“All right then.” With that, he leaned over and depositedher into a heap on the floor.

Glaring up at him, she scrambled to her feet, too overcomewith fear to stay where she was.

She looked around again, stepping closer to Fitz, notknowing what should scare her more; him, or whatever was in the room with her.

Then she heard the unmistakable sound of a chain dragging inthe corner. She whipped around and took a step backward, bumping into the wallof a man behind her. She flinched at the feel of his skin on hers, but couldn’tmove away.

“What was that?” Her voice was no more than a squeaky exhaleof air.

“That?” He took her arm and pulled her away from the shadowsshe gaped at. “That was Bruta.”

ForKaylie Newell, storytelling is in the blood. Growing up the daughter of two gifted writers, she knew eventually she’dwant to follow in their footsteps. Whileshe’s written short stories her whole life, it wasn’t until after her kids wereborn that she decided to shoot for the moon and write her first romancenovel. She hasn’t looked back since!

My name’s Sabrina Luna and I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. When I’m not busy, I enjoy meeting up with my“geek” friends for movies & munchies, haunting bookstores and creating art.

Howdid you select your pen-name?

It’s madeup from my birth name (Sabrina) and the last part of an old internet screenname (Luna). It’s very special to me& I call it my ‘soul’ name because, to me, it reflects who I am.

Doyou prefer?

Milk Chocolate orDark? I love both!

Coffeeor Tea? I love coffee (all kinds) &also enjoy a good iced tea made with Green Tea & lemongrass & mint–Mmmm!

Vodkaor Tequila? I’m not big on eitherone, but I do enjoy a splash of whiskey in my coffee now and then.

Romanceor a Thriller? I enjoy both! To me, if it’s a good story, it’ll make yourheart race, either way!

Didyou always want to be an author?

I lovebooks! I love stories! I love libraries! So, the answer is yes! To me, having your name on a book is a bit ofimmortality because, long after you’re gone, your stories will hopefully beread by others for years to come. J

Whatauthors had an impact on you growing up and as an adult?

Growing up I read Walt Disney fairy tales andenjoyed the Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys mystery series. I became an even bigger reader in my adultyears when I discovered erotic romance & urban fantasy. I enjoy such authors as Neil Gaiman, SherrilynKenyon, Angela Knight, Laurell K. Hamilton & Jim Butcher, to name just afew.

Didanyone in your life influence you or encouraged you to be awriter?

My parents were both big readers, so I was very encouraged to read bythem. Later, I was blessed to haveseveral teachers who encouraged me (even though I did get in ‘trouble’ forwriting in class instead of doing my class assignments). Plus, after attending my first sci-fi convention,I was inspired by all the authors there and learned a lot from hearing themspeak about the writing craft. Later, Ijoined a local RWA group which gave me further inspiration & information. All these wonderful folks have inspired me inmany ways in my writing ventures!

Whatis your writing atmosphere like?

I have an office in the house where I can sit down, surrounded byshelves of books & a cup of coffee within arm’s reach, and write. I don’t write longhand anymore, but will jotdown notes or outlines on paper. I findit so much easier to use my computer now and a good Word program withspell-check.

Whatis your favorite aspect or writing? Your least favorite? My favorite aspect is when I get into the‘flow’ of a story and it carries me through until the end. My least favorite aspect is waiting toreceive the final product, either the ebook or print version.

Whatdrew to the Love, Again Anthology?

Ilove the idea of finding love again. It’s that whole second (maybe even third or fourth) chance to allowsomeone special into your life & heart. Yeah, I’m such a romantic! LOL!

Howdid you decide on your story plot?

It’sa basic idea I’d had for a while and when I started outlining the story, itflowed and writing it came easy. So, Iknew I was suppose to tell this story.

Howdid you choose your characters names and location for your story?

I often get a ‘vibe’ on character names, plusthe location is the current city I live it and surrounding areas, even thoughsome of the places are fictional. Butthe location is based on Charlottebecause it’s an enjoyable, interesting city to live in.

Autumn, tell us about yourself:

Let’s see…I’m self-employed which I enjoybecause my boss is awesome! It’s also hard because I only have one employee. Iwon the husband lottery. I can’t imagine life without him. We have four rescuedogs so life is never dull. I love to travel, read, write, listen to music andsee my favorite bands live.

How did you select your pen-name?

It’s a combination of my favorite season,a family name and the English translation of my name. When I showed my husbandthe book cover it took him three tries to guess which one was me! Then he said“duh, that should have been obvious!”

Do you prefer?

Milk Chocolate or Dark?

Dark – I try to eat a square every day!

Coffee or Tea?

Tea

Vodka or Tequila?

Neither

Romance or a Thriller?

Hmmm… This one is tough. I love both.Today I am going to say Romance!

Mystery orHorror?

Again, Ilove both. But my heart belongs to horror. I love horror movies, books, youname it!

Did you always want to be an author?

Yes and no. I’ve always been writing something.Short stories, poetry (bad teen angsty poetry that makes me cringe now!) But, Inever necessarily thought about publishing any work until the last few years.It takes a lot for me to muster up the courage to show my work to anyone.

What authors had an impact onyou growing up and as an adult?

Christopher Pike, Dean Koontz, V.C.Andrews, John Grisham, – I read a lot oftheir work as a teenager.

More recently, Charlaine Harris, AnnabelJoseph, Kitty Thomas, J.R. Ward, …I’m horrible at remembering names, but thosefew stand out. I was lucky enough tomeet Charlaine Harris last year and she was very inspiring.

Did anyone in your life influence youor encourage you to be a writer?

My parents. Especially my mother, she wasa writer and an English teacher. She wrote for a local paper when I was littleand I remember tagging along with her on different assignments. Reading,writing, languages were all very important to her so I grew up with anappreciation for words. My father came to this country as an adult and workedvery hard to learn the language. He probably speaks it better than I do. Infact, it’s still not uncommon for him to correct my grammar or spelling now andthen!

What is yourwriting atmosphere like?

It’s really easiest for me to write lateat night. I’ve always been a night owl. I like to stick in my earbuds andlisten to my Ipod with two of my dogs snoring away next to me.

What is your favorite aspect of writing?Your least favorite?

I am always coming up with all these crazyideas, so I love just getting them out. Just getting in the zone and letting itall flow.

Least favorite: Finishing something! I’mgreat at coming up with ideas, but it’s tough for me to really sit and work outstuff to completion. I have an idea of where I want things to go in my head andI hate when I have a hard time getting it out!

What drew to the Love, Again Anthology?

I loved the idea of two people gettingback together after taking some time to explore who they were outside of therelationship. I think the submission call mentioned high school sweethearts,and I liked that aspect of a couple who had dated as teenagers getting backtogether as adults.

How did you decide on your story plot?

The inspiration actually came from anadvice column I read awhile ago.

How did you chooseyour characters names and location for your story?

I honestly don’t know. It just pops in myhead and if I like it, I stick with it.

I got the new edition of EntertainmentWeekly the other day. I had alreadyseen the cover scattered over the internet and Facebook, but I was stillanxious to see it for myself. This time,the cover features The Vampire Diaries. How hot is that?

There was a time, before Stephenie Meyer and L.J. Smith,when the idea of a popular series featuring vampires would be more camp thanmainstream. As a paranormal romancewriter, I still pinch myself at the idea that there is actually a market nowfor all of those crazy stories floating around in my head!

So, while my stories will probably never reach thepopularity of Twilight or The Vampire Diaries, how great is itthat I have the chance to stand in the shadows of these novels?

It doesn’t matter if you love or hate Twilight, or if you think that humans and vampires should never mixwithout destroying one another. If youare a paranormal romance reader or writer, you owe a big thank you to these twofranchises.

I sit here now; editing book #2 of my Spiritus series, but next to me sits the copy of Entertainment Weekly to remind me that when it comes to paranormal romance, allthings are possible.

Spiritus (Book One)

DanaMichelle Burnett spent most of her life writing short stories and sharing themwith family and friends. Melissa, tell us about yourself:

Imagine the Brady Bunch without Alice and you’ve got apretty good picture of my life. As apart of a blended family with two children from each of our previous marriages,my husband and I have created a new home and family that encompasses ourteenage and young adult children, two fur-babies, a high grocery bill, and alot of laundry.

Growing up as theoldest of five daughters, I was taught to fish, hunt and to work hard by myfather. He didn’t believe in forcinggender roles. My grandmother taught meto cook, sew and care for others. And my mom taught me the importance of beingme… she let me color my hair, cut it in the latest styles and fight for what Ibelieved in.

Today, I try toinstill those ideals and a love of reading to my own children and futuregenerations as an elementary school teacher. My family have made me a betterperson and provided me with support, great lines for my books, and a few grayhairs. But I firmly believe that eachexperience makes us stronger and better.

How did you select your pen-name? My pen name is my real name. With marriage and divorce, my last name haschanged a few times. I’m proud of myhusband’s last name and want to celebrate the rich history that comes with it.

Do you prefer?

Milk Chocolate or Dark?

Dark chocolate, preferably with raspberry mixed in. I make a mean spinach, fruit and chocolatesalad. Who couldn’t love healthy foodwith a sweet indulgence?

Coffee or Tea?

I’m not really a coffee or tea drinker. Once in a while, I love a good whitechocolate mocha or caramel mocha, but my drink of choice is water. For the longest time I was a morning coladrinker and have really cut back to only one cola per week.

Vodka or Tequila?

Both give me headaches, but a nice bottle of coconut rumis delicious! It goes great in lemonade!

Romance or a Thriller?

I love all genres. Of course I do enjoy a hot romance with a happily ever after ending butthere is something about matching wits with the author of a thriller, trying tofigure out what will happen before the end of the story.

Mystery or Horror?

All genresare fun. There is something about beingscared out of your mind and knowing that you can walk away from it withoutbeing involved in the danger that thrills me. I also enjoy trying to solve the crime before the detective. In other words, you give me a book, magazine,sheet of paper with writing and I’ll read it.

Did you always want to be an author?

I don’t know that I’ve always wanted to be anauthor. It has definitely been a dreamof mine but mostly I wrote to share my thoughts and feelings. Would you believe that when I was younger, Iwanted to be a rock star? Then I startednursing school at 16 in order to work with hospice patients. But life has a way of changing yourdreams. I’ve been everything frommanager of a clothing store, to furniture sales person, and now a teacher. I don’t believe that we are ever doneevolving. Being an author is a dreamcome true. I love that others canfinally share my stories and look forward to the many wonderful discussionsI’ll have with readers. But whoknows…maybe someday I’ll still become that race car driver, I’ve been dreamingof!

What authors hadan impact on you growing up and as an adult?

My first favorite authors were Johanna Lindsey and Jude Deveraux. They wrotestories that appealed to my heart with strong male characters and women whoenjoyed being taken care of. As I grewup, I read every genre from Piers Anthony--and his wonderful play on words-- toCassie Edwards --and her sweeping historicals. My tastes expanded tofuturistic, paranormal, and fantasy. Butat the heart of every story was a strong woman and the man who loved her. Today, my keeper shelves are filled withLaurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, YasmineGalenorn, Karen E. Taylor, and many more!

Did anyone in your lifeinfluence you or encouraged you to be a writer? (teacher,family member, friend) My mom wrote a storywhen I was a teenager and worked hard to have it published. This was back in the time before e-publishingand while she never had her book published, she served as an inspiration forme. When in college, one of my Englishprofessors pushed me to explore my thoughts in poetry and served as a mentor,reading through all of my work and celebrated with me when one of my poems wonan award. My family has been thestrongest supporter and have given me the support to follow this dream. Auntie Squirrel (to protect the innocent) wasan editor and writer and loved to read my musings, always encouraging me to getpublished. But it was my hubby whopicked up the slack at home and serves as my sounding board that has been mosthelpful.

What is yourwriting atmosphere like?

Imagine a quietpeaceful glen filled with the songs of birds and the warm summer breeze blowingthrough your hair… well, my place isn’t anything like that. I work at the kitchen table, the living roomsofa and my bedroom. Because I live in ahouse with teenagers and fur-babies, there is always noise going on and a lotof action. Someday, I hope to be able tohave my own desk, writing office or secret closet where I can go write, buthonestly I enjoy being home with my family, even if they do cause a fewdistractions.

What is your favorite aspect orwriting? Your least favorite?

I love when the ideascome to me. I’ve currently been stashingaway ideas for future stories. When Iget into the story and it comes alive, the characters write themselves and theaction flows are some of my favorite parts of writing. My least favorite is when I’m struggling tofind time to actually write. Being afull time working parent, book reviewer, editor, and author doesn’t leave me alot of time for writing. I’m great atprioritizing but wish there were more hours in the day.

What drew you to the Love, Again Anthology?

I was very excited to be a part of such a wonderfulgroup of writers! We had all beenworking on a Valentine anthology with Midnight Magic Press when the publishinghouse closed. It was devastating for usand when Ruby Lioness Press opened its doors and decided to publish a Valentineanthology, I jumped at the chance to work with everyone again!

How did you decide on your storyplot?

The plot of my story came to me from my ownsmall town. Life in a small town is verydifferent than in a larger city. Everyone knows who you are and your lives are intertwined forever. I still keep in touch with old boyfriends andclassmates and love going back to visit my hometown. In Forever Love, I write about a woman whomust give up her life in the big city to return to her hometown.

How did you chooseyour characters names and location for your story?

As I mentioned, Amherst, Ohio is a wonderful place toraise a family. But many teenagers seekto escape the small towns in order to lose themselves in the anonymity of a bigcity. Like my character, I wanted toescape Amherst but have come to love and miss that part of my life.

The characters namesare hard for me to think up. I like touse names that I’m familiar with so you’ll see me take names of students,family, and friends to create the names of the characters. After all, they are fictional people but Ifind that names show the true character of the person inside.

Here is my review of A Bodyguard of LIES:

This books pulls you right in. Jake is an FBI analyst, he is undercover and needs to meet and form a friendship with a beautiful young woman and her grandmother. Will his attraction to Mary cloud his judgement. This book is action packed and an easy read!

Excerpt:

The major handed Jake a secure mobile phone, which he tuckedinto his jacket’s inside pocket. Acknowledging the older man’s military background and bearing, Jake gavea quick half-salute, biting back the sarcastic retort that sprang to mind. I’mthirty-two, Major, not thirteen.

“Will do, Major,” he said and grabbed the handle of hissuitcase. “Where the hell is this motor coach going, anyway? Besides theRepublic of Ireland?” Major Temple’s bushy gray eyebrows arched. “No, didn’thave a chance to read the itinerary. Too busy with the files.”

Temple chomped on his pipe, one side of his mouth upturnedin another wry smile. Jake sensed the man was holding something back.

“Southwest England, Wales, Republic of Ireland, a bit ofScotland. Two weeks’ worth.”

“And if I conclude this investigation in less time?”

“Then we debrief and back home you go. We’ll handle thefiling of charges and arrest warrants if needed. Extradition, if necessary, forMrs. Snider. Well then, good luck, ol’man.”

Jake nodded and took his leave. Outside, he hailed theguide, a friendly, outgoing sort who introduced himself as Robert Morse. Theman quickly turned the suitcase over to the driver, who stowed it in thestorage bin at the side of the motor coach. As soon as Robert checked him inand indicated that he could take on board his carryon, Jake moved to thecoach’s front door. He suddenly stepped aside as a young, very pretty blondeclimbed down, spun around and helped an elderly woman descend.

“Sorry, Robert, my grandmother has to visit the restroom.”

The blonde glanced over at Jake, grinned in greeting, thentook her grandmother’s arm and followed the direction of Robert’s sweeping arm.The two women entered the glass-fronted hotel lobby and walked slowly aroundthe corner of the lobby’s counter. Jake’s gaze clung to them.

So there they were. Mary McCoy Snider and her granddaughter,Meghan Larsen. What a hottie!

“Quite a looker, that one,” Robert murmured them, his eyesfollowing their progress as well.

An understatement, Jake thought as he nodded to the man inagreement. The granddaughter was lovely—had the face and figure of a Hollywoodstarlet. She had a wholesome but sexy look about her. The red lipstick she woreaccentuated her full, sensual mouth; her deep-set blue eyes were large andluminous. A boxy navy-blue pea jacket concealed some of her curves, but theoverall effect of a beautiful, symmetrical face, a tanned complexion, longblonde waves partly covered with a large, black beret, and graceful motion waspowerful. Like a slap of warm sunshine in this cold, damp country. Seduc—er,schmoozing that girl was going to be a perk, not a chore.

Already, he was warming to this assignment.

The grandmother, bulky in a long wooly coat, lookedattractive despite her purported eighty-five years of age. The elderly womanwas well preserved, he decided, and must have been quite a beauty in her youth.Like her granddaughter, she would’ve turned men’s heads and carried her powerover them like a Hollywood pinup girl.

“Would you care to board, Mr. Schoenberger?”offered Robert,the tour guide, interrupting his reverie.

“Call me Jake. I’llwait until the women return.”

The tour guide tossed him a knowing smirk.

A few minutes later, Jake was helping the elderly woman upto the steep first step. Mary McCoy Snider paused on the steps, holding ontothe railing on the coach’s door, and looked back at Jake, her dark blue eyessharp with intelligence.

“Thank you, young man. What’s your name?” she asked, aslight Texas drawl softening her naturally strong, clear voice.

“Jake. Jake Schoenberger from Virginia.” He smiled up at theelderly grandmother, who then nodded and moved up into the coach. He slid hisgaze down to the granddaughter, who’d paused at the coach’s door. The top ofher head came to his jawline.

“Thanks for helping, Jake,” she said, blinking up at him beforeclimbing the steps herself. Her long honey-blonde hair brushed his shoulderwhen she moved past him. There was a self-conscious shyness in her manner.Which Jake found odd, for such a beautiful woman. Wow. His pulse revved up.

Dude, you’re on duty.

Wasn’t that why they chose him? Get close, peel off thelayers of distrust...

He proceeded up after Meghan Larsen, appreciating the rearview. Too bad, he thought, when the two women took seats near the front of thepacked coach. The one vacant double-seat was in the rear of the coach. Henodded a friendly greeting to all of the passengers as he passed them on hisway to the back. They were mostly couples but another single man, an older guyin his fifties, sat alone at the halfway point in the coach. Two women of aboutthe man’s same age—maybe mid-forties—were behind him. They perked up as hewalked by, shot him wide smiles beaming with anticipation.

He knew that look.

After stowing his carry-on underneath the empty seat next tohim, Jake sat down. His long legs brushed against the seat in front. Damn, liketraveling in coach. Two weeks in this freakin’ bus—how was he going to standit?

He leaned over. From his vantage point, he could see theblonde’s wavy locks falling about her shoulders. She was sitting on theopposite side of the coach in the aisle seat, her grandmother in the windowseat. Damn, he’d have to find a way of sitting closer to them. Maybe theirseats on the coach weren’t fixed ...or he could feign motion sickness and askRobert to place him further forward.

As he was plotting a way to chat up Mary Snider and hergranddaughter, the blonde swiveled her upper body and looked down the aisle.Their eyes locked together briefly and she smiled. Despite a night withoutsleep and heavy with jet lag, his pulse kicked up. Something lurched in hischest. His groin clenched. Jake returned the smile.

Good, he thought, she noticed me. Contact with targets made.

Amy walked to the sliding glass door and peered out. Anunfamiliar blue sports car pulled up. Biting her lip, she watched as it parkedin front of her building. Out stepped Adam. Good God, he was hot, wearing darkjeans and a white button-down shirt. He walked with confidence radiating offhis body as he approached her building. A knock sounded on her door and slowlyshe crossed the living room. Trying hard to gather the courage to answer, shewiped her palms together and counted to three.

As she opened the door and saw him standing there she wasspeechless. His eyes sparkled and as he smiled she noticed a dimple on hisright cheek. An urge came over her to kiss him. It took everything in her notto yank him in by his shirt and throw him onto the couch.

"You look beautiful," he said.

"You look g-great too," she stuttered, wanting tokick herself. "Uh, you want to come in for a moment?"

"Sure." He stepped into the apartment.

"My roommate isn't here. Can I get you a drink?"

"You got any whisky?" He laughed.

"Uh." She wasn't sure what to say.

"Sorry, I'm just nervous. Thought it might take theedge off."

She smiled. "Me too, maybe we both should take a shotto get over our nerves."

She went into the kitchen, grabbed a stool, and climbed up.Opening the cabinet above the fridge, she pulled down a bottle of Jack and twoshot glasses. A warmth crept up behind her. His hand was then on her waist.

"Don't want you to fall." He spoke in a raspytone.

She said nothing, just tried to concentrate on not passingout. One small touch on her lower back sent tingles shooting through her wholebody. She was already feeling moist between her legs.

Climbing down, she set the whisky on the counter. Amyunscrewed the top and then filled each glass halfway. Picking both shots up,she turned and handed one to him. He let his fingers linger against hers amoment. If she wasn't careful they wouldn't be leaving this apartment.

"Count of three?" he asked.

She nodded.

"One, two, three."

Each put their glass to their lips, eyes on one another, andtipped the glass up. The liquid was warm as it slid down Amy's throat.Hopefully this would calm her nerves and hormones.

"Can't say I've ever done a shot with my date before wewent out," he said as he set the glass down.

"Yeah, this is new for me too."

Her head was already starting to get a little cloudy. Damn,she hadn't eaten since lunch. There was nothing to absorb the alcohol. She justmight be feeling real good, real soon.

"This might be forward, but if I don't kiss you beforewe go out, it's all I'll think about." He looked longingly into her eyesand grabbed a hold of her waist, tugging her against his chest.

Without any hesitation she leaned forward, letting her lipspress into his. Her eyes closed as his mouth took hers, lightly at first. Sheexpected the kiss to be short and sweet but urgency took over her. She tangledher fingers into his hair and thrust her tongue into his warm mouth with astrong desire to taste the whiskey on his breath.

Yesterday Ruby Lioness Press offered me a 4 book contract for my YA series called Best Friend Series (there will be 8 books total in the series). These books will be geared toward high school students. I will pen this series under the name Tara Len Walker.

Why another pen-name? I felt since this is a teen based series that I should keep it separate from my romance books.

Tell us aboutyourself:

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I always had a notebookand pen with me and as an adult, the laptop is never far. I've been jottingdown short stories for years. The plots and dialogue have always played out inmy head, but I never knew what to do with them. I never thought to have anyoneelse read them. That all changed when I discovered the eBooks industry. Ithought maybe I could do that! Now I'm penning books at a rapid pace and Ican't be stopped.

How did youselect your pen-name?

My son's name isJake but ever since he was a baby, I've called him Jade. I don’t know why, Ijust have. If I were ever to have a girl I wanted to name her Ella. I got tiredof waiting, so I borrowed the name. Ella Jade was born.

Did you alwayswant to be an author?

Yes, for as longas I can remember I've always had a pen and paper in my hand. I love to tell astory.

What authors hadan impact on you growing up and as an adult?

As a young adult, I found Stephen King and Inever stopped reading him. He has a fascinating past when it comes to sellinghis work and getting into the business. He's very inspiring to me. Asan adult, I read lots of Nora Roberts. I love how she can create all ofthose characters. Many of them stay with me long after I'm finished the book.

Did anyone inyour life influence you or encouraged you to be a writer?

I just always knew I was meant to write. Ididn't necessarily think I could be published but I had a passion for writing.My characters inspire me to get the story told. When they talk, I listen.

What is yourwriting atmosphere like?

I need total silence. Right now, I'm set up inmy dining room, but that doesn't always work. I'm thinking of converting partof the basement for an office. My kids aren't thrilled that I may be takingover half the playroom. lol

What is yourfavorite aspect or writing? Your least favorite?

Creating and developing the characters. I lovecoming up with new and exciting ways to bring the two maincharacters together. One of my favorite things to do is developthe back story of each character. Everybody has a story and I HAVE totell it. lol My least favorite part is coming up with all those new andcreative ways for the characters to have sex. There are only so many ways to doit and I think I've written them all, but I keep trying!

What drew to theLove, Again Anthology?

When I saw thetheme for the Anthology I knew I wanted to write a story where the hero notonly got a second change at a love lost, but at redemption too.

How did youdecide on your story plot?

I use lots ofimagery when I write. I look at pictures and think of a story that goes withthem. Home came from an idea Ithought of when I saw a picture. I just went with it.

How did youchoose your characters names and location for your story?

I just go withnames I like. In this particular story it's Chase and Elyse.

I’m Lacey Wolfe and I am a wife andmother of two children. I also have a spoiled rotten lab and too many cats tocount. (Last count 6-all spayed and neutered)

How did you select your pen-name?

My pen name has a sweet meaning. 11years ago I took in a one week grey and white furball kitten and bottle fed herfrom one week old. She was like my first child. In November 2010 I lost her tocancer and her name, Lacey, just seemed perfect for my pen name.

Did you always want to be an author?

I did. I’ve always been writing.Whether a story or journal or blogging. I was writing.

What authors hadan impact on you growing up and as an adult?

I have such a hard time with thisquestion because I don’t think there was one. I read who I enjoyed and stilldo.

Did anyone in your lifeinfluence you or encouraged you to be a writer?

I had a teacher in 6^thgrade who fed my writing habit and told my parents then that I would grow up tobe an author.

What is yourwriting atmosphere like?

I write with my butt firmly plantedon the cushions of my couch.

What is your favorite aspect orwriting? Your least favorite?

I love writing their stories andgetting to know them on a personal level. My least, when your not sure where totake them. That darn brick wall.

What drew to the Love, AgainAnthology?

I’ve always wanted to be in ananthology and this anthology seemed like a great one to start with.

How did you decide on your story plot?

I started to write this a few monthsback and was going for that cheesy romance feel but with a slight eroticromance to it. I’m hoping that’s what my readers get from it.

How did you chooseyour characters names and location for your story?

I don’t have a location. But thenames just came to me and seemed to work. I usually toss names around until Ifeel comfortable with that as the characters name.
