Tell a Story Blog Hop

Welcome to the Tell A Story Blog Hop!

The grand prize is $30 gift card Amazon or Barnes & Noble. There is a chance to win something on each blog also.

I've always loved to read, and dabbled in writing here and there through the years. But it was a few years ago that I was bite full force by the writing bug.

I was asked a few months back when being interviewed for a bog to write a flash fiction using these three words - Gun - Pest - News.

I looked at the words and thought the task was impossible, but I didn't want to back down from the challenge. So I dug deep inside myself and got in touch with my inner redneck!

Buckle up... here we go!

Image: Boaz Yiftach / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

A Day in the Country

Luann was outside in the barn looking through the drawers of her husband, Randy's, work bench for a hammer, when she heard a screeching sound from behind her causing her to jump. On instinct she grabs a gun off of the rack that hangs over the workbench. She turns slowly to find that it's two huge rats fighting in the corner. Luann lets out the breath she was holding and remembers hearing on the news that the town is overrun with rats. She hates any kind of furry little creatures, especially if they are in her barn. She holds the gun out and aims at the first little pest and pulls the trigger. Without hesitating, she cocks the gun and aims at the one running away and pulls the trigger once again.

Dropping the gun she wipes the sweat from her forehead. She looks at the two dead bodies and sighs. She grabs a shovel, disposes of the bodies, cleans up with some bleach, and places the gun back on the rack. She finally finds the hammer she was looking for and heads back toward the house smiling and feeling pretty proud of herself. She can’t wait for Randy to come home so she can share what happened. She places the hammer down on the counter forgetting why she even needed it, grabs a beer, walks onto the deck, sits down in her favorite chair and glances out over the ranch. “There is nothing better than country living,” she whispers into the cool air before she takes a swig of the beer.

Again... have no idea where that came from.

For a chance to win a book off my back list Obsession or Love, Again Anthology, leave a comment with your name and email.

Don't forget to check out the other stops for more chances to win.The Link can be found at the bottom of this post. Good luck!

Thought I would leave you with one of my favorite songs!

Guest Blogger WJ Craft

I’m a little bit of a freak, I admit it.

I get turned on by weird stuff. Alien stuff. Female domination stuff.
Things getting into other things that don’t ordinarily (or ever) go
there. People being altered in unimaginable ways, except that I did
imagine it, then I wrote it down.

Maybe it’s not everybody’s thing, but it’s certainly some peoples’
thing to fantasize about men getting shock collars and the women
getting the remote controls to them. To imagine a cool alien tendril
sliding itself into a woman’s body and mind and giving her a new
perspective on this strange thing called the human race. After all, if
women ruled the world, there would be far fewer wars.

My goal in all this is to make the women wet and the men tingle. I’ve
been reading science fiction since I was little, including all the
golden-age greats like Robert Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, E. E. “Doc”
Smith, L. Sprague de Camp, Andre Norton (a woman!) and many more
lesser-known authors. So that’s why I combine science fiction with
erotica, because it excites me, and I know it can excite others. Maybe
not everybody, but I’m not trying to excite everybody.

What gets me off isn’t just the mechanical nature of sex: Putting tab
A into slot B. What I want is the look on my partner’s face, the
sounds they make, the touch of skin on skin, the taste of them. I also
enjoy a little element of danger or risk sometimes, and I very much
love female domination. What I don’t like about femdom is the pain and
torture aspects. Heels pressed into someone’s back, suffocation,
whipping... no. Intimacy should be about pleasure and love.

As alien as my erotic stories can get, the element of pleasure is
always there. If someone’s going to be incapacitated against their
will, it’s going to be because they’re subject to the most incredible
forced orgasm they’ve ever had. If someone’s held captive and altered
in some way, they end up becoming a better person for it.

True, some of my upcoming horror stories will deviate from this, but
that’s why they’re set aside in a horror collection. Erotica, on the
other hand, is about pleasurable fantasies, and I hope my stories make
you tingly and wet, over and over.

Take Me To Your Leader: In this 1940s retro tale, a military translator gets up close and personal with some newly-landed alien emissaries.

Tamaria reviews Play Me by Jennifer Probst a INS Story

Play Me by Jennifer Probst
A 1 Night Stand Story

Professional gambler Sloane Keller is tired of dating weak willed men and longs to meet a man who challenges her dominant personality and forces her to submit. As the Queen of Cards, she’s used to making her own rules, and craves the excitement of Vegas. But her inner heart cries out for someone who can be her match, both inside the casino and in the bedroom.

As the new dealer in town, Roman Steele is burnt out on women looking for a quick penny and a man to follow. He craves a woman with fire in her soul and a keen intellect who can challenge him. When his brother recruits Madame Eve to help, Rome is amazed at the complicated woman he gets to spend the night with. But when the evening is over, will she be gutsy enough to offer him forever?

Genre: Contemporary, BDSM, erotic romance
Heat level: 4
Word count – 12k

~Excerpt~

Walking past the bar, he headed toward table six. He needed to loosen up and not take the encounter too seriously. His older brother had bought him an evening with a woman—hopefully one he was compatible with. No reason to bitch and look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth.

He stopped dead and stared at the woman in black at table six.

Her name suddenly rang through his head in a symphony of clanging bells. Sloane Keller. Champion of the World Series of Poker. The Queen of Cards.

His mouth snapped shut. Was this a joke? A revised version of Candid Camera? He’d been half in love with her since she’d stumbled on the card scene with a cold confidence that pissed everyone off. She’d come from behind and won her first poker championship with the big boys. An unknown, unnamed long shot everyone expected to laugh out of the game. With icy deliberation and, she knocked every other player off the table and never batted an eyelash with victory.

Shit. She’s gorgeous.

His gaze swept over her with a greediness he’d never experienced. The woman practically exuded I dare you to any guy within distance. Her hair shimmered under the lights, an exotic black cherry, falling pin straight to brush the top of her shoulders. Longish bangs hid most of her features until she turned her head, and he caught a whirling impression of strength. A stubborn chin. High cheekbones. Arched dark brows. Thick eyelashes. Her lips were ruby red and not overly puffy like the normal Botox look. No, they were perfectly sculpted with just a hint of plumpness in the lower one. Her outfit added to the impression of lean power—a sleeveless black silk blouse, dark trousers, low-heeled sandals. She perched on the chair as she stared at her cards, her blood red toenails tapping on the bottom rung. Her fingers were lightning quick, the nails matching the color of her toes.

Suddenly, she paused. Her shoulders tightened and she swung her head around with a hint of annoyance. Her gaze slammed into his with a fierceness and challenge that singed his nerve endings and his cock. Eyes a bottomless violet sucked him in as deep as he imagined her wet pussy would welcome him. But it wouldn’t be easy. Everything about the woman screamed the need for an alpha to take her under him. Figuratively and literally.

He met her stare dead on and refused to back down. A few beats passed. Then she turned away with a dismissive shake of her head, obviously irritated she’d lost the skirmish. Satisfaction thrummed in his veins. Finally. A woman he could sink his teeth into without worrying. I bet this woman would bite back.

 ~*~*~

This is the author's second book in her Stelle Brothers 1NS Series. Catch Me is the first book, I do recommend reading that one first.

It's was easy to find myself getting lost in Play Me. Sloane is a strong willed woman on top of her game who is used to getting what she wants, but she longs to have a man challenge her so she seeks our Madam Eve.

Roman needs a woman who will challenge him both in and out of the bedroom. His brother arranges a 1 Night Stand for him.

The tension and attraction between Roman and Sloane is instant. With their hearts at stake, will they play against the odds or fold?

I give Play Me 5 out of 5 stars!

You can purchase both Play Me and Catch Me at Decedent's Publishing.

Available now from:

Excerpt:

Jamie’s gaze followed Olivia’s ass as she walked toward the fridge. She bent slightly over reaching for the ketchup, and he was worried his erection was going to burst out of his pants. The way she looked at him as she headed back to her plate of food, he wasn’t sure if she was hungry for those fries or him. He had never met a woman with so much sexual desire, it was almost pouring from her veins. He wasn’t sure about the story with the ex, but that man had to be crazy for leaving.
Ketchup was on the corner of her mouth. Instinctively, he grabbed the towel, leaned forward, and wiped her mouth. Her eyes locked on his and, before he could even think twice, his hand wrapped around the back of her neck and pulled her to him. Her mouth met his just as fiercely and opened, letting his tongue slide in. The taste of ketchup met his taste buds and the need to taste more of her sprung through his body.

Olivia gripped his shoulders and pulled him closer. His free hand took hold of her waist. His erection shoved into her stomach. The kiss was like fire and even though he knew he should be resisting, he had to keep playing. Turning his head to the side, he deepened the kiss. She tasted so good and felt even better in his arms.

Pushing her back slightly against the counter, he nudged her legs apart with his knee, pressing his thigh tightly between. His dick was so hard now, it hurt.

Her mouth left his and for a moment he almost had time to stop and think about how wrong this was, but then her tongue swirled around his ear lobe and he was gone again.

His aching hands found her breasts, full and large. He cupped them, but imagined his face pressed between them instead. Licking his lips, he couldn’t wait to taste them.

“Mr. Jamie.” A little girl’s voice called from the living room.

Frozen, he took a step back from Olivia.

“Just a minute,” he called back.

Olivia’s eyes were full of passion. She bit her lip and he could tell she was nervous, but not for a second did she regret what happened. He knew this had been very wrong and he hated what he had to say. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have kissed you.”

A smile crossed her face when he had expected something different.

“I don’t think you are.”

Her hand reached down, touching his erection. He sucked in, now biting his lip to try a push away the urge to grind into it.

Letting her hand drop, she strutted past him to go to her daughter. His gaze once again followed her round little ass in her pencil skirt. She was right. If Morgan hadn’t interrupted them, he would have been finding out what it was like under that skirt.

Bookspotlight: The Mark of Kane by LW Herndon

My name is Thaddeus Kane. I exist in Los Angeles, the city known for the hustle of Hollywood, an average 266 days a year of sunshine, and smog.
That’s not my L.A. I operate under the mantle of the city as a troubleshooter for the demon clan who saved my life. Not a bad job if I can stay alive, but I have my limits. I refuse to risk innocents, which causes me problems. That one line I won’t cross for anyone. Loyalties—I have them. I’m pretty sure none of my associates would approve of my particular choices.
Human sorcerers are murdering my clan to harness superpowers and I’m the only one capable of finding the evil. A tough assignment, made harder by my secret alliance with a rival demoness to save prophetic teenagers from the same horrible fate. I’m all they’ve got.

LW Herndon is a pseudonym for the author of the Thaddeus Kane urban fantasy novels and the Declan Other Realm young adult urban fantasy tales. The Calm Before the Storm

I was attacked by the evil plot bunnies. My good friend Viari Rose made a cover and showed it to me. Well my mind started to go into over drive. I told her I had an idea and she made some changes to the cover, I just wanted the background. After A few emails and a brain storm session The Calm Before the Storm was born.

I've never written a thriller or self-published a short story. This will be available FREE when finished. I may just offer a PDF unless I figure out how to get it on Amazon and Smashwords.

I'm expecting this to be between 3,000-5,000 words. I can see it play out in my head like a movie. I just need the time to write it and have it edited.

The Calm Before the Storm

The last two years of Erica Bloom’s life have been spent looking over her shoulder. Sawyer Marsh promised the day she filed for divorce and left him, that if he couldn’t have her no one would.

Even though Sawyer hasn’t contacted her in two years she still feared for her life. She remembers all too well the nightmare their marriage was and what it felt to be on the receiving end of his wrath. The news of Sawyer’s engagement allows Erica to finally let her guard down and enjoy her new life and budding relationship with Brock Maxwell.

While away relaxing at Brock’s vacation home on the Willow Lake, the past comes back to haunt her. Were the past few years just the calm before the storm?

Tamaria reviews The Great Outdoors by Becky Moore a INS Story

Happy Hump Day! Today I have the pleasure of reviewing a book in a series I happen to be addicted too! The 1 Night Series by Decadent Publishing!

The Great Outdoors by Becky Moore

Tallulah Murphy is a busy woman. As the newly appointed Director of Education for the Atlanta Art Museum, she has a thousand and one things to do on any given day. Dating is not high on that list; in fact, it’s not even on the radar. Three hundred miles away in Charleston, South Carolina, Lieutenant Mitchell Weaver is gearing up for his promotion to be the youngest police chief in the city’s history. And unfortunately, as a prominent city official with all eyes watching his every move, a quality date seems untenable. But when good friends and good fortune set Tallulah and Mitch on a fateful adventure with Madame Evangeline’s high-end dating service, 1 Night Stand, they may just find that a little matchmaking magic can reset their spirits of adventure, and open their hearts and minds to the possibility of love.

I'm not an outdoorsy type of person, my idea of 'roughing it' is a hotel without room service! But my God, I would've of climb a mountain or hiked all day for 1 night with Mitchell!
I love this series because it allows the hero and the heroine to live out their fantasies. The moment that Tallulah and Mitchell meet you can feel the attraction. They both have hurt in their pasts and sought out Madam Eve to help them move on. When things heat up between Mitchell and Tallulah, they sizzle!
Miss Moore drew me in immediately and I couldn't stop reading until I finished.
I give this The Great Outdoors 4 out of 5 stars!

I highly recommend this book and this series!

Interview with Second Chance author Debbie Gould

If you follow my blog you already know that I'm obsessed with the 1 Night Stand Series!

Today I have an author of a 1NS book on my blog, Debbie Gould!

Debbie welcome and tell us about yourself.
Grew up in New Brunswick, NJ until the age of 14 when my mom dragged me kicking and screaming to rural Vermont, lol. Been here ever since. Now work as a nurse at a small family practice and live with my two Maine Coon cats and 21 year old son.

Do you prefer...
Milk chocolate or Dark?
Milk chocolate definitely! Dark is yucky, lmao. But it I really had a choice it would be white chocolate, and YES white chocolate is still chocolate, I don’t care what the haters say, lol.

Coffee or tea?
Neither. Never did acquire a taste for either of them. I do like Hot Coco, and Swiss Miss has a pick me up line with lots of caffeine in it.

Vodka or tequila?
Vodka! Although was just on vacation in Mexico and they were giving out free shots of Tequila. Now THAT was fun.

Romance or a Thriller?
A romantic thriller please.

Mystery or Horror?
Both with romance added in, lol. Do you see a pattern? I guess I don’t conform well. I love A good thriller, mystery, horror or all in one, but I need some romance in it too. Don’t like them without it anymore.

Did you always want to be an author?
No, I actually work as a Nurse M-F at a family practice in rural Vermont. I read every thing I could get my hands on though. Started with Stephen King as a teenager. Then my daughter had a few bad break-ups and I decided I wanted to write about the man I wanted her to find in fall in love with. The rest, shall they say, is history, lol.

What authors had an impact on you growing up and as an adult?
Stephen King was THE man in my teens. I also read VC Andrews and Dean Koontz. As an adult I moved more to the Romantic Suspense genre. Love Suzanne Brockmann, Cindy Gerard and Lori Foster.

Did anyone in your life influence you or encouraged you to be a writer?
No, not really. My kids are all very proud and tell all there friends about my books. They do encourage me and now I have several fans that keep me plugging away at the computer.

What is your writing atmosphere like?
Either I’m on my couch with my laptop with some silly TV show in the background, or at my messy desk in my bedroom, with the cats trying to help.

What is your favorite aspect or writing? Your Least Favorite?
Favorite is writing The End! Gosh I love that feeling. Least favorite is the middle of the book when the ending seems so far away and I begin to wonder if I can do the story justice.

Your current book your promoting is:
Second Chance
Lieutenant Colin Beckett, US Air Force special ops, lost his wife in childbirth while off on a mission. Two years later, he’s still trying to come to grips with the guilt that tortures him. And to complicate matters, he finds himself undeniably attracted to his wife's sister, Emily. Struggling with his desire, he tells himself he doesn’t deserve a second chance with such an amazing woman.
....Emily wants Colin in her life and her bed. Enlisting the help of Colin's teammates and Madame Eve's 1Night Stand dating service, she plans to prove to Colin he can have everything he lost once again.
....Will their one night lead to the happy ending she longs for or the loneliness he thinks he deserves?

How did you come up with your story line?
I love military hero’s. My daughter is in the Air Force, and they miss so much when they are deployed. My hero’s deployment had a devastating event happen when he was gone and I wanted to see how he’d deal with it.

How do you choose your characters names?
TV, books, people I know, news. All over really

I've read Second Chances and reviewed it a few weeks back!

About the Author...

Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of two Debbie and her mother moved to New Jersey, spending many happy years on her grandparents' horse farm. You'll sometimes find this setting as a backdrop in her work.

As a teenager, she and her mother found a new home in Vermont, where she currently resides. With a daughter in the Air Force, one son in college and the other working for the family business, Debbie now shuffles her time between a husband and full time job as a nurse, and writing.
About seven years ago, while looking at over three hundred treasured books lining her shelves, she realized there was a multitude of stories of her own clamoring for release. Since then, she's seriously persevered in keeping the keyboard in constant motion.

With two novels, Mountain's Echo and Infidelity, and two novellas, November Rain and Second Chance now published, Debbie is now also working with a partner, L.J. Garland. Together the two have written Sins of the Mind and are hard at work on many more manuscripts.

Debbie has been a member of KOD, FTHRW, ELEMENTS and RWA Online.
